WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

word bot wasn't overly happy with me. It said my starter was a good one but unfortunately a bit unlucky today as it left me with 160 possible solutions!

It said my second guess was good but not as efficient as the bot was.

However, it loved my 3rd try!

This wordle might be right down your alley, countess, you may get it in 2.

I really didn't have a lot to go on after 2 turns (or that is what it felt like to me) so used a 3rd to try to narrow down the letters. It meant no solutions though till turn 4, which doesn't do wonders for the score.

I didn't have much for word 6 till towards the end when at least the solution to word 3 gave me a starting letter for it.

Wordle Bot approved although it said it could have done better. I used a couple of different starters today, ones I have used before. I don't think it would have made much difference, actually, to the result.

Octordle, I had more trouble in that I tried a word for my second guess in square 2 and almost got it, but I should have waited as there were still 2 possibilitiies.

I got through today but only just. My last guesses were in square 7 but I had no way to know which it would be out of 2 possibilities and I chose the wrong one.

I beat wordle bot! He said he would have needed 4 turns to solve it but then, he got off to a bad start with his own first word, which had none of the letters in it.  How he can award himself 99 for that while mine got only 94, I do not know. 😂

He approved of my second word, said it is exactly what he would have chosen in my place. Said it was then between two answers. That was an eye opener as I would never have considered one of them a valid word.

Not really happy with this. My own fault. On #7, I overlooked a letter I already had out, which would have given me the start of this word. So that was one move wasted.

We’ve both got the 3-rower victory!

My starter was SNAIL.

I re-used all three of my yellow letters in my 2nd row - a risky move but it paid off.

(I even had a hunch about the answer … Had I taken that risk, I’d have got it in 2, but it’s all very well to give value to a hunch in retrospect…!)
