I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I was going quite okay till word 3, but at the end, that took a few tries.

My eliminator was LOUIS, and it was decisive. I could see only one possibility remaining.

If only I’d chosen a slightly different eliminator at row 2, I’d have got this in 4.

TRACE followed by DOUGH… It was as easy as rolling out lasagne sheets until I came to TL, and I had two possible words.
This time I was lucky.

Happy enough with this.
Had a stab at #5 on turn 3. It turned out to be wrong, but it was a reasonable enough try at the time and did help towards a couple of other words.
#1 had me tossed for a few minutes till I remembered-Oh, American spelling.

It certainly does. I started with SLATE, and used GROIN as my 2nd row eliminator.

I started with CATER, and then played FOUND. 3L really couldn’t be anything but what it was. Top right (1R) was then either the material that stinks of urine in the rain, or a noble ride.
2R… well, it had either 1 vowel or that vowel repeated. That limited what consonants could be used. I had at it, and solved it.
2L must have its vowel in 3rd position, and that meant that an (x) must follow the first letter (where (x) is a particular consonant to which I’m referring discreetly). That meant that the 4th letter was a different (x). Voilà.
I turned my attention to top left; yes, US spelling! The word could only be (xxxxx).
Bottom right - 4L - and although I had only 1 yellow and 1 green, with the letters remaining I was reasonably sure about the solution.
In turn, that gave me the final letter of 3R, which meant I had the whole word.
I was now down to 4L (bottom left). It was obvious that there were two possibilities. Both were likely; there was really nothing to choose between them. Luck and a certain degree of suspicion about Octordle methodology led me to one of the possibilities, and I had the thing completed.
