WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

TRACE and LOUGH kicked off the game.

I had one qualm with 3R, as the initial letter might have been the second letter, which would have required a completely different initial letter… but I played the other possibility first (and fortunately it was right).

Bot was pleased with me and told me that after my second turn, there were only 2 possible answers.

As you can see, I chose the wrong one.  😅

I enjoyed playing this one. I made a mistake on #6 but I was aware that it could be a trick as I tried it.

I tried boast when it was toast, reusing the T

#4 was sort of fun. A sea of yellows that at first looked confusing, but I was able to pick out by default from the yellows where some letters just had to go.

TRACE and BOUGH gave me a tricky time. I managed to make the right guess but it was a bit of a lemming leap.

I made a wrong guess at row 9/guess 9. It did take me 2 guesses (TRACE and HOUND) to get started… ah well.

It almost always takes me 2 guesses before I can get started with any certainty!

And even then.......😂

As you can see, I am up late, or early. I kept worrying about an order I made and just got up to double check it.

I have done wordle. Bot was very pleased with me as my second guess was exactly what he would have tried. But you know what? I sat there and wrote the possibilities after my first try and came up with 4 (Bot told me the 5 later) and the actual answer was top of my list, first that came into my head. Had I taken that leap of faith, I would have got it in 2, but as we know, my leaps of faith usually lead me astray!

Not a hard octordle today, except iin the sense there were several possibilities for several of them.

I could see exactly what letters were causing the multi-letter possibilities. I’m actually surprised to get only 50.
