WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I am actually happy with this score, considering the poor start I had with my first turn.

I took one look and thought, hello, this isn't going anywhere fast.

It turned out a better score than classic though, so can't complain.

All I can say is it was lucky my second turn, shout, yielded a few  more clues!
I madea  mistake on #4, I thought shard might be a bit more unusual than shark so they might go for that, as they have in the past.
#8 was me trying to double guess-mower or rower. This time I chose the right one. I thought the might try a double cheat on us.

Then an "Are you kidding me, we're back to this again" moment.
hatch, catch, watch, batch, patch, wrath and for all i know, half a dozen other possibilities besides.
I was not happy.
I used crumb as eliminator. That got rid of a few, but patch was still a bit of a risk. Thank goodness it came in, I could have been going forever.

Congratulations on breaking into the 40s yesterday! I dream of such a thing but apart from my one lucky moment, it hasn't happened and today was not the lucky day either.

On the whole, I am satisfied I did about as well as I could in this.
By the time I got down towards the end, I had #1 and #3 to solve.
I think I had whittled it down to cover or poker for #1 and from early on, I had had #3 tagged as flout or clout, but solving the other words didn't solve them so i used FROCK as eliminator.

For #6, sheep was the first word I thought of so I decided to go with it, but it could have been shred or sheer
I hesitated on #5 and almost went for cross.

It was not a “couldn’t be anything else” answer, but it was down to 1 in 7 or so. Instinct immediately drew me to a guess and I played that before I had a chance to talk myself into an eliminator.
