WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

OMG, I don't think I thought of joker. Not sure why not as it is out often enough. My very early thoughts had been cover, boxer, poker, foyer and I didn't update enough.
Sometimes I wonder how I am game enough to make a move at all, there are often so many traps.

stare   I was a bit reluctant to give up shout but suspected either ea or a-e pattern. Settled for stare as it was possible, would test the pattern plus had letters I like s/t/r
I could then only think of 2 possibilities, skate or spate and I thought skate seemed more likely, it has certainly been out on octordle enough anyway.

I can't complain as today's efforts still managed to be under 60, so a good day for me, but I do long to get it lower one day.

I went out on a limb somewhat with #1, but I had a feeling it could be that and I didn't want to jump into an eliminator again too soon, always fatal to the score.
Kicking myself over #3 though. I had been thinking float/gloat and once the F was out of the picture jumped in with gloat, only thought of bloat after the mistake. Ah well, it helped sort out #7, which had more possibilities than I could poke a stick at.

Surprised I got under 60 for this as I was faced with too many choices at some stages and had to madly popcorn some letters, as you would say.

I was going okay for the first 6 turns. But by then, #5 & 7 were still murky and i had a few different ideas for #2 & 4.
I used demob as eliminator, which solved a couple, but was surprised I had really expected the B or D to pop up for #4. After that, I fancied ionic for that spot. Probably should have guessed #5 at that point, but went for pricy as eliminator and at least that solved the 2 remaining.
The score would possibly have been slightly lower had I guessed unzip instead of trying pricy as eliminator. But I would have got #4 wrong after that as I would have gone with ionic.
Jingo would have been my absolute last choice after dingo/bingo/ionic.

I was tempted to just try guessing, but there were still more than 6 possibilities lying in wait. I’d been impulsive yesterday in a similar situation, but without a strong gut feeling, caution seemed to be a good idea.
