WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Straight away, this was all I could see as the answer.

I sometimes share results with a friend and she said she thought plait might be the answer. I never even thought of that. I suspect it is because plaid has been out in octordle plus I have got into the habit of assuming the T has already been covered by my eliminator.

OFTEN 🎯 could have been onset

HYPER 🎯 could have been buyer, pyrex, shyer; hyper seemed the most likely

After the eliminator, tramp was out and i knew it was TRAI_… with train and trail ruled out. It had to be trait.

Some luck fell my way with delta, often and hyper, but they were all perfectly logical guesses. And… I avoided solving 2R until I knew it had a “d” and an “h” and thus wasn’t shape or awake; I didn’t try to solve 4L until I knew it wasn’t flush, and so on,

You have no idea how often I was tempted to use another eliminator as I worked through this, but I kept saying to myself-have another look and see if there isn't something hiding in plain sight. Which is basically how I solved delta and hyper.

I was pretty sure #2 would turn out to be token, that was teed up to be my next turn after trait.

I was so suprised to see 60 come up. I knew I had made a mistake towards the end, but still.

Why so harsh, I wondered. Then I had a look at it and realised oh yes, I forgot I used an eliminator half way through.

Spoiler
11 ex.jpgI came to a full stop a few words in. I used cadgy and immediately regretted it. I thought #4 better not be fudge. The C did help but not as much as I thought. I was stuck on #1 chock/chomp but of course it didn't help with the second C. At least it steered me away from a mistake on #3, which I had thought might be lolly/jolly/folly/dolly.
Getting ninja was probably my most useful break. The J really pulled its weight today.

After my first turn, I couldn't think of anything at first, then widen came to mind and I immediately tried it.
With not a huge amount of success as the position of the i-while not certain, was already a strong hunch.
So then I thought-maybe I should have gone with shout, only I didn't think there were any other vowels and couldn't think of anything with H or T.
Then I thought... risen, or maybe riven or ripen. I really should not have rushed into my second turn.
So my 3rd word was serve. I was a bit surprised not to get R.

So.. got there... eventually.

12 ex.jpgThis one was a bit of a pain, I was tossing up lever/leper for #7 and once P was ruled out I jumped on it, only to find I had the right letters but the wrong way round.😂

I don't know what it is with the comment jumping out of the spoiler in the classic reveal. I couldn't get edit to work either.
