WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Yes, abuzz is a new one.

I would never have guessed it earlier on in my game.

I guess I always complain about words on repeat. Then I complain when I can't guess one. No pleasing me.😁

After which I thought of snail, but of course it couldn't be.
So onwards to shout. U was a surprise, wasn't expecting any other vowels but it solved it for me.

15 cl.jpgBy the time I got a little way in on this game, I could sense a theme. The theme of let's use one of the same letters again in this word. In fact, it made me wonder if #1 might be nanny, with 3 of them, but I thought dandy sounded more their sort of word, and still had the advantage of re-using a letter.

I often seem to fall on the last hurdle. Did it again today. It was a 50/50 choice. Missed out.
I didn't win in Tattslotto either this week.

15 ex.jpgThings got off to a good start, but of course I had used the SH in shout already, so i went with grout.
Took me a while to figure out #1, I had to go through the alphabet to work out what could possibly be in front of the H as the normal culprits eg C/P weren't working.
Fell again at almost the last hurdle, choosing cover instead of rover. Then hoping it wasn't dover.
And #2, at least I got that guess right as I was tossing up whether it would be local. Win some/lose some, I guess.

With A in the middle, _LANK or _LAIN or _LASH were strong contenders, so I wanted an eliminator with L in 2nd place, and at least the I somewhere… and both S and L included.

After my eliminator, it had to be avail or quail. Bialy or ugali were possible but hugely unlikely.

3L was almost there after my starter… almost, with 4 possibilities. I played safe and used an eliminator.

I was so tempted to take a guess on 3L immediately… but it could have been tribe or tripe or trope or trove. Better to use an eliminator to get the rest of the words moving, and work my way through.

It was the right technique. “I” was ruled in, and after badge and budge, it had to be tripe.

I already knew 2L was birch, and now I knew 2R was march, not parch.

The remaining words were already solved mentally by now.
