WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Both groan and briar popped immediately into my head, but of course they’re not the only possibilities. I’d say 20 or so words could have been the answer, but groan would have knocked that down anyway to about 4, were I wrong.

I’d somehow thought I must have played an eliminator earlier, so in the wake of a screeching halt after koala, it felt like a collapse to require an eliminator there.

But no. I’d had luck in avoiding an eliminator up to that point, and that had brought the score down very nicely.

Took a few risks along the way.
#1 smite/spite, thought spite much more likely in the classic.
#3 spout/scout
Towards the end, I decided I had been pushing my luck and #8 & #5 warranted another eliminator to narrow the field a bit. Chose crowd as I really needed to try out W & C was useful too.

Fairly happy with today's batch of octordles. Not into the 40s (been a while since a heady day like that for me) but I've kept it under 60.😂

I did hesitate on turn 5 for #3 as I considered quill. I was considering just going with fudgy as eliminator to check but then thought.. at least guild stands a chance plus it covers the g & d. I had a moment of satisfaction when the very next word I solved was grief and that covered the F for me then as well.

Savoy was a complete guess-couldn't think of anything else. And #6 was a pain-smell/swell/spell. So.. swamp as eliminator. I figured it saved worse case scenario of solving on 3rd turn.

🤣I had to go back and re read my own post as I fell into the same trap yesterday and used same eliminator!
