WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I was left thinking-likely to be 2 e's in this, but I was thinking-bevel-revel-level-leper-repel and so on.
Maybe even excel.
I was going to try pricy next but I really wanted to rule V in or out so went with carve instead.
Then bevel. Finally got there with level.

15 ex.jpgTowards the end, I felt I needed an extra eliminator (I used dumpy).
I was torn on #2, dusky or musky and #5 I suspected mummy or puppy though dumpy wasn't impossible. I thought #7 was most likely apply, so at least dumpy gave me a heads up on that one too!
If I had had to guess, I would have guessed dusky, mummy & apply. So probably just as well I had the eliminator, points well spent.

A most satisfactory game, in that I was able to start solving from turn 2 (although I needed another eliminator at turn 3) & most of the answers seemed obvious, although #3 was a bit of a risk.

#1 answer is one I am not keen on but they have trained us to think of it as it makes regular appearances.

I didn't make any mistakes as such. It is just that I used another eliminator on turn 4, but I really could not see my way clear without it. There were multiple possibilities that needed to be sorte

Even at the end, I had fingers crossed for #1 & could easily have finished this one in the red if things had not gone my way.

I made a reasonable guess as my eliminator. It was wrong, but it led the way clear to the answer.

I was tempted to try a guess for 2L without using an eliminator, but with five possible answers it just wasn’t worth the risk.

Once I’d played spoil, I knew 2L but I made it wait while I dealt with 1R (sloth) - which then opened up 2R (throb).

The rest was simply logical - no guesswork required.
