WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

birth-risky, probably should have tried another eliminator, but I was expecting the R, at least, to be green.

2 cl.jpgBy turn 4, I was really stuck as every spot had more than one possibility and some had loads.
Once I got to 4 or 5 possibilities, I stopped even considering any more.
If I had had to guess on turn 4, I would have tried rebut for #3, trait for #6 and boost for #8 & all would have been wrong. Lucky I went for an eliminator (pricy) and I had to laugh as price had not even been one of my thoughts for #2, I'd been thinking bride, drive, pride etc

All in all, lucky to get it in under 60.

Fractionally better but I was not inspired.

Again, most of my hunches would have been wrong in this one, had I gone with them.

I agonised over turn 4-throw or throb, but throw was first to occur to me so I went with it & was lucky.

Had the R not shown up in #4, I was then ready to go with fetch, which would have been wrong.
I made mistakes in #1 (poker instead of joker) & #6 (offer instead of odder), probably should have used another eliminator.

I am quietly pleased with the results of this one, even though it is 52 , it felt like an achievement for me.

3 cl.jpgAfter my first 2 turns, I didn't feel I had a lot to go on to make a sure fire guess.
But before another eliminator, I decided to look at #2, as there are a limited number of letters that go before L, plus I could see it wasn't a double E.
I tried fleck, there are other possibilities (eg clerk) but I was lucky and after that, the rest gradually fell into place.

Mistakes, mistakes, I made a couple in this one.

I call foul on #6 though.

It is where I made one of my mistakes, so maybe i am biased.

I was stumped for a while for any answer, after my mistake.

I actually tried it with other left over letters (which were rejected, as I expected) till I came to the solution.

4R - Until I solved 2L (debut), 4R could have been robot or roost.

3L - it was _RA_E, so the letters B, D, F, G, K, M, and V were all in the pool of suspects. After mound and debut, only G, K and V remained, which narrowed down potential words to … one.

2L (crumb) was a risk, but only a small one.

3R was a bigger risk as offer was a serious contender. I chose odder mostly because it would at least remove (or reveal) shade from the suspect list for 4R.

Yes, after you solved that first word, there was no clear path forward. Given the letters available, you played it perfectly, and the score doesn’t reflect that.
