I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

There were roughly 60 possible words after my starter. Ruling out two Es was a priority, although I’d have liked to rule I and U in or out as well. Placement of the T, presence or absence of S… and of the remaining consonants, L or M…
After considerable thought and no gut feeling, I decided on METES.

I was tempted to try an immediate guess with either 2R or 4L, but there were really too many possibilities and my logic-meter said “No!”
Fiend was obvious after the eliminator. The D from fiend gave me olden. 1R now narrowed down but could still have been glare or blare; had to guess.
The rest was obvious. Tramp gave me the P and M for 3R (prism) and the P for 2P (phony). 2R now couldn’t be anything but quote, and the U from quote gave me rumor, even though it’s the US spelling.

1L (bicep) was revealed after the eliminator, and its B gave me 1R (broke) and 2R (scuba). The A in 5th position gave me 4R (dogma), and the G from that revealed 3L (verge) while its D gave me 3R (shade).
The V from verge and the M from dogma completed all that I needed for 4L (vomit). By now, it was clear that the final word must have the _EIGH pattern; it could only be weigh.

3R was obvious after the eliminator. The S (and final O from eliminator) gave me 2L (pesto). In turn, that put the E in 2nd position for 2R, so that the highly likely pattern _ECOR gave me decor.
I was looking at 4R, which was _IRTH (so … birth or mirth). At the same time, just next to it was 4L, obviously _A_ER or A__ER. It occurred to me that it be just like Octordle to have 4L be amber as a sort of taunt - “Here are both of the possible letters for 4R!”, and immediately I felt certain that it was indeed amber. Gut instinct, luck! It was. And thus was revealed mirth.
Amber also gave me 3L (amity). Then 1L - L(A)N_Y - was obviously lanky. That left 1R - _(H)I__ (bracketed H presumed position as it couldn’t be on the final position). Only possible first letter would be W, and from the scarce pickings of the unplayed letters, the gin add l two letters just had to be double F for whiff.
