WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

Only did wordle yesterday, it was a 3 for me too. I had a few choices but luckily chose the right thing, from memory.

Today, not so lucky. I had a choice of a couple of things at the end and went with the wrong one first.

I did a silly thing with my final guess. For some strange reason I assumed I’d ruled out a

particular letter and thus a possible word for 3R. Too quickly I played a guess for the word, but at the very same instant I realised that the letter in question was as yet unplayed. I made a futile gesture to stop the word I’d just entered: too late!

But … the word I had played was actually correct. A happy error, in fact.

And no serendipitous moments in octordle, quite the opposite. 
I made one stupid guess and as I looked up, I saw I had a letter where I could see it could not go, but too late! I really have to slow down and double check. I tell myself to do that but sometimes I just get carried away!

And I made a wrong guess at #6, tried fifty. It wasn't a 'stupid' guess as such as I had no way of knowing which of a couple of possibilities it was.  Them's the breaks!

Bot told me that #7 was just a lucky guess as there were 7 other words it could have been. 

I saw the yellow and I don't know, I just immediately placed it into 4th spot in my mind & with that combo, there weren't that many letters left that could go on the end. The answer was the first one to jump into my mind and I went with it as I thought that even if not 'it', at least it used 3 oother useful letters.

This worked out well enough.

My only downfall was #5, which I had virtually solved quite early on in the piece. It was just a metter of guessing the 2 letter ending and there were 3 possibilities. Well, maybe more, but 3 likelies that I could see.

In the end, I had to go for one and it was wrong but my middle turn nailed it. So I was lucky to get 56 really, as it could just as easily have been the 3rd possibility.
