I recently stumbled across WORDLE online. For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.
https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/
This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:
Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though). Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words. I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts. Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

There was no way for me to guess any word on row 2; my starter didn’t give enough information. My eliminator was not too bad a choice, though, and I could start solving from row 3.

(Don't ask about yesterday's)
I so want to ask you about yesterday!
I don't want to discuss my six life.

After my first 2 guesses, I still was not sure what it was. I was thinking maybe even color. Wouldn't have put it past them.
Then I thought-folly, dolly, golly. So I tried a 3rd eliminator (faced) which helped.

I was going okay for a little while, but wasted a few turns trying to get #3. I went through grass & crass before getting brass. Set me back.😐

Funnily enough, as I logged into wordle today, I was thinking to myself of how, when it started, it was run by the London Times (I think). Then bought by NY Times.
You'll certainly notice the American influence today.

More American influence in this one.
I think several of these words are on repeat but what made today's puzzle a bit different was I think it needed just about all the less commonly used letters.
I was lucky enough to solve #1 fairly early on in the piece and was a bit surprised to see a certain letter pop up in another square.

I found today’s Octordle quite challenging but I was ready for those Americanisms.
My starter wasn’t an ideal one today; I did better with my eliminator but primarily because of its first letter.

I don't use the same starter each day. I just use a word that has meaning to me at the time of doing the puzzle. Have used B!TCH at times, and some other choice words that would surprise some 🤫

I have run the changes with the starter, but it’s been a while; I wonder whether I’ll take that scenic route today…
