WORDLE - anyone else trying the daily online word game?

I recently stumbled across WORDLE online.  For the uninitiated, it is a daily word guessing game where you have to try to guess the word in 6 or less tries.

https://www.powerlanguage.co.uk/wordle/

This, from Wikipedia, explains the game:

Every day, a five-letter word is chosen which players aim to guess within six tries. After every guess, each letter is marked as either green, yellow or gray: green indicates that letter is correct and in the correct position, yellow means it is in the answer but not in the right position, while gray indicates it is not in the answer at all. The game has a "hard mode" option, which requires players to include letters marked as green and yellow in subsequent guesses. The daily word is the same for everyone. The game also has a dark mode as well as a high-contrast theme for colourblind accessibility, which changes the color scheme from green and yellow to orange and blue.

This abc news story has some tips for playing:

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-01-26/why-wordle-has-become-a-new-online-obsession/100782794

I have found that most that most days I can get the daily word in 5 tries or less (mostly 5 though).  Interestingly, there is a spinoff of WORDLE called LEWDLE, where the words are lewd, or naughty, words.  I have better success with LEWDLE than I do with WORDLE . . . getting the word in just 2 or 3 attempts.  Not sure what that says about my private school education 🤣

I didn’t use a logical eliminator; gut feeling drove this guess from a field of 17.

It could have been extra, after, aster, alter, alert, avert, earth, hater, water, dater, pater, rater, eater, mater, rated, retag.

EDIT: snap! We both solved this Wordle sooner rather than … etc.

4L - I had the green S and A, and yellow P. I could so easily have been lured into playing “swamp”.

2R - I had the green E, and yellow O and L. It was a 1 in 3 situation: vowel, dowel, bowel. I made a wrong guess.

🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 DEFER 🎯

My eliminator reduced the many possibilities to a much more manageable bunch.

I therefore laid out the possibilities as:

defer, odder, udder, rodeo, ruder, doper, dozer, edger.

My gut said “defer”.

BLOKE 🎯

SUING 🎯🍀 could have been using, swing

The first trap - vigor/rigor - I escaped through chance.

The second by virtue of having been fooled before by a possible raven, at which time I told myself to remember this lesson.

The third - wrath - by mere chance.

The fourth - habit - by being resistant to W, having avoided the W-containing trap of wrath this moment hence.

The last - by deciding on suing as it would rule between the final two possibilities were my guess wrong.

alien/shout. I had thought there was a good chance there would be another vowel in it.
But not so.
I then assumed either an E in 2/4 position or a double E.
Tried greed in 3rd spot.
Wrong, but I was lucky it exposed other letters for me.

As you can see, it was a case of so near and yet so far, but I wasn't quite game to jump in with a guess on #8. #7 I suspected sneak or snake or snare.
#3 at least was easy.

Then I hit a wall and decided I badly needed to know about letters C and M at the very least, and used comfy. After that, smooth all the way but of course it cost me.

Fractionally better, but only because I didn't use a 3rd eliminator quite as early.

I resisted #2 as long as I could. I thought, "Surely it couldn't be..". It is such an Aussie word.
I used famed as 3rd eliminator.
I had #1 tagged as likely raven and#5 tagged as vigor up till that stage.
And luckily for me, it gave me a lead on #8 as I figured there had to be a 3rd E in it but my brain was foggy up till then, very foggy.
