Washing sneakers in a washing machine ?

Hi, Has anyone have any tips on washing a pair of sneakers in a top loading machine it's a basic simpson model.TIA.

I prefer putting them into an old pillow case ( tie the top shut) first.

Yep I've always put them in an old pillow case too!

I remove the laces first and place them in one of those zippered bags for washing knickers, so they don't end up as strings of knots, and I always completely dissolve my washing powder in hot water first, before tipping it into the machine (I also cold wash only).

Same as Grizz says.

Any metal bits like buckles or lace eyelets go rusty after a while, I've found.
