Watermelon clothing

Hi ladies and gents, this is probably a topic more for the ladies, but gents feel free (if you are interested) to contribute 🙂

I'm looking for a watermelon outfit.  Preferably a two piece outfit like a short dress/long top to wear over pants or a long floor length dress.  Does anyone have any ideas where I could look, I have looked on Ebay there are some nice things but I'm just putting it out there to see what ideas peeps on here may have.

LOL Steppe, cant say I ever listened to them, sounds like an early eighties recording to me, what era are they from?

Missed this.

Yeah I believe that is from early eights.  If I'm not mistaken, it is in Australia, but Andy Warhol did a painting of her.  She was very early into the punk scene but also had a real fashion flair.  She also did some modeling, was in a couple of movies, b movies, never heard of them or seen them myself. But yes, she is the Queen of Punk, NYC, early days.

She's really fascinating.  I also really like her voice, so distinctive.

Oh wow, Australia thats surprising. I think I may have seen the Warhol painting of her, but never really knew who she was or what she was famous for. She's very original thats for sure.  I'll have to check out some more of her stuff

Re: Watermelon clothing

Here she can tell you herself, lol.  She started her thing in Paris where she's from and it was in the latter '70's.  She's complicated, interesting.

Re: Watermelon clothing

Interesting how she talks about being labelled the Queen of punk because she was more sheek/salon than being actual punk.  And then she met the pope of Pop Andy warhol.  Dont think I've ever heard him referred to as the pope of pop lol but I guess in some ways it is true.  I think his art still influences popular culture to this day.

Not a fan of all her tattoos though lol They make her look so masculine...

Re: Watermelon clothing

sure,i'd be happy to elaborate. 🙂

this girl started out as a gospel singer, and transitioned into mainstream rock after years of fighting to" get noticed" .capitol records signed her in 07,and one of her first singles" i kissed a girl",which she cowrote, hit the charts fast and furious!

she writes,or cowrites,a huge amount of her material, and she fought her way to the top, just like many of my punk heroines did!

i admire her!

Re: Watermelon clothing

Yes, she goes for that look, last I heard she lives with her partner in the Bronx.

She's also into yoga, very much.

Although she hung out with the rich and famous, she herself wasn't really rolling in it.  She's seen the underbelly of NYC, like she said all the darkness.

Re: Watermelon clothing

Oh I see what you mean Sin 🙂 thanks for clarifying.

I recall an interview I saw with her from a couple of years ago.  She said she always wanted to be the Amy Grant of the pop scene (or something along those lines) then she sold her soul to the devil...

What do you think that means?

Re: Watermelon clothing

amy is a major league artist on the christian/gospel music front.she could have gone mainstream, certainly, she has a beautiful voice!

but she chose to stay in her original field, because of her beliefs. i respect that.

Re: Watermelon clothing

True, but I was referring to an interview with Katy Perry.  Sorry if I didn't explain myself properly. It was Katy who said she wanted to be like Amy Grant but then she sold her soul to the devil.  I've heard alot of artists say this.  Do you think they are speaking metaphorically or that they have actually sold their soul to become superstars?
