Uruguay has just changed its legislation and is now the first country in the wrold to sanction the growing, selling and smoking of marijuana.
They have done it to put the illegal drug trade and drug traffikers out of business.
Personally I think it makes sense. If nicotine is legal than there is very little difference between the 2.
Your thoughts?

I suppose it was a trigger, but pretty much every one of them will say it was drugs that did it. It's really scary for them.
They have to blame something, otherwise they would have to admit they have a mental illness.
Pot use may correlate with mental illness, however is not a causation.

It is a proven fact.
Cannabis use can cause drug-induced psychosis, trigger the first episode of a psychotic illness or make a pre-existing psychotic illness worse. People who have, or may be at risk of developing, a psychotic illness should not use cannabis.

If your going to want weed banned you need to ban Booze.
But that will not happen because everyone drinks and it's taxed (which is what the US is what some states in the uS are doing with weed)
Causes mental illness
Directly involved with violence and crime
directly involved with family breakdown.
Might as well legalise it because at the moment it is cheaper than bying cigarettes.
The worry that kids might get access to it can easily be drawn to booze.
That being said I would rather drink than smoke.

who is wanting it banned? The question in the OP is about legalising it.

Then legalise it.
We need to get out of this huge future for our children ending debt.
As you said it can cause harm, just like allot of things we ingest can cause harm.

I agree with decriminalising it but not legalising it.

Actually you could legalise certain strains that have low THC which will lessen psycotic effects.
The stuff they give to Cancer patients.
Save prison cells for those horrible people we see walk away with suspended sentences for violent crimes.

A persons genetics would be more likely to play a role.
Mental illness runs in families.....as does Alcoholism.
Harvard Medical School has conducted research and found that marijuana is not a cause of Schizophrenia, family history is the real
indicator and cause of illness.

Look up Sane Australia and some medical sites...... the evidence shows it.
