I had a girlfriend with a '69 SS396 (350 horse/4speed) in 74...........she traded it for a 76 Trans Am.....I could have wrung her neck.
It looked just like this.............except it had a bench seat, no console.

That 76 TA was so smog-gutted, it would fall on its face at about 2500 rpm. One time, my BIL was driving my 262 cube Monza, and I was driving Cathy's TA. We matched off, and by the time I hit second gear, he had train-lengthed me........
Her SS396 had the long "hurst" shifter since she had bench seats and no console.

Well the bench seat would have made room for another passenger if they didn't mind the shifting. Almost every car I ever owned was a standard shift and i've rammed lots of peope in the leg or knee going into reverse or 2ed, by 4th they learned to move their leg i guess.
I had a 1977 Trans Am, got it in a trade, it was rusted out and was not much in the looks department, but all that smog stuff was gone, the engine had been changed to a Chevy 305, the guy i got it from I can't remember what all he said, stall converter, something cam, ect, ect.. All I know was when I pushed the pedal down it would almost put me in the back seat, and because the body and floor was so rusted out, I thought it would bring the front seat with me. I ended up trading it for a Mustang 5.0 convertable, no where near as fast but way more solid. That TA was about to lose the rear axl from the looks of the frame rails.
That was about the time I started getting out of the real cars and collected the die cast ones, mostly 1/18 scale. Much cheaper and safer. lol

Maybe you could start a chat thread for this weeks theme and keep this thread for the challenge pictures.
