Maybe keeps them for photo opportunities?
If he keeps collecting them, he will have enough to thread the reels and hang down the doorway to prevent flies coming in?
Actually, I have just restored an Anchor/Coats thread display cabinet. They would look fantastic behind the glass fronts of the drawers.

there's pink threads there too, i did a rod for my niece with a pink theme even the line on the reel spool was hot pink
speed is a japanese thread made from cotton, most of the rod repairs i did for tackles stores were originally done with speed (cheap) so i have them in stock to match 'em
most of the threads pictured are american gudebrod nylon threads which is considered to be the strongest and the best
Maybe keeps them for photo opportunities?
i could of sprawled them all out neatly for a better shot, i doubt i'll get kudos anyway, lol

Hi freaki, Yes I've got about 20 wooden Coats but they have dull colours - grey, brown, etc. I think they came from a tailor.
I've lots of Sylko wooden reels with brighter colours and of course plastic ones. I have a fair few skeins of embroidery thread. So all in all not bad. But I'm seriously thinking of getting some photo work done for false facades behind the 6 glass drawers (similar to "book" wallpaper, if you know what I mean.) Thanks for asking.

Sounds interesting.
I get bits and pieces of old threads and things that poeple don't want to toss out in the rubbish sometimes 😄
I've just finished sorting out about 700 zippers.
