Mr Shorten said this afternoon's announcement by the former communications minister was not a solution to Australia's problems.
"With Malcolm it will always be about Malcolm," Mr Shorten said.
"Australians rejected Malcolm when he was opposition leader because he was out of touch, and he was arrogant.
"Australia needs a change of government and Labor will be up for the fight no matter who the Liberal party select."
