She does look great in those pics. I spose after a 5 hour photoshoot you would expect that.

Apparently the stylists chose that dress for her.

I like the way they've scattered the balls of wool around the chair, don't you?

Kind of symbolic lol

I found the true Gillard.... This is how I actually pictured her to live... and this is how I really do think she lives...

This is her home in 2005.... sparse with no personality...

Julia Gillard's kitchen

It could have been the empty fruit bowl. Perhaps it was the bare walls. Or maybe the stark benchtops.

Spike is still having difficulty pinpointing what it was about the Labor MP and party leader aspirant Julia Gillard's lifeless kitchen that sent such a chill wind through readers yesterday.

On page seven of The Sun-Herald, Gillard posed for a photograph sitting at her spotless kitchen table as the media debated her chances of becoming the new Labor leader.

However, by all accounts, it wasn't just Gillard's unnaturally spotless kitchen that appeared eerily stark when the media were allowed into her home. Apart from a few personal belongings dotted around the house, the rest of Gillard's home in the Melbourne suburb of Altona is pretty bare too.

Gillard's spokeswoman told Spike the MP had just come back from overseas and had not even unpacked her suitcase when photographers visited.

She said Gillard had a hectic schedule and was often away from home, hence the sparsity. "She's very generous with her time," the spokeswoman explained.

"She doesn't get to spend much time at home. She has lots of friends and she does socialise, however she is very actively involved in her work."

Cat - how about you post some pics of your kitchen so we can all judge you? lol.

Seriously - you claim to know the real Julia Gillard by looking at her kitchen?  How utterly ridiculous.

Not a Gillard fan but judging a PM on their house seems a bit excessive. I more concerned about Abbott's "oversight" when he forgot to declare his $70k new mortgage.

Nice photos but why do this knowing what negativity it would cause?

Yes azure I would agree re the many patterns making the pic look cluttered.
