Most of the large courier companies will do out of hours deliveries but there is not much call for it because it is too expensive.
IMO the same will happen with this new service, but they will be charging the high rates all the time.

Almost all the courier companies that I know of will do one off point to point deliveries if you ask for that service and are happy to pay for it.
You can have a 1 hour service within a certain distance.

My wife uses our regional country town taxis very regularly and is on first name terms with all of the drivers and company owners. They regularly get phoned up to go to the bottle shops and buy cartons of beer and spirits and deliver them to people and also get regular fares from the local drug couriers driving them around the region, making three minute stops and then on to the next place.
The taxi drivers dont condone it but they just find its easier to look out the other window rather than get mixed up in it all. They are all older semi - retired blokes who dont need the aggravation of stirring things up and its not like the local police dont know who all of the regular offenders are.

Yes,
Two of the companies I used to work for used to ask at the end of the day who was available for after hours work that night. My OH and I used to take the weekends.
One regular job was delivering pastries from Deli France to 7/11 and other convenience outlets at 3am....7 days a week including Christmas. It was a 3 hour run, followed by the usual 5.30-6am start to the usual working day.
We also delivered lost luggage for United Airlines.....spent the whole of Christmas Day one year going from the airport to Penrith area and then down to Vincentia...then back to Sydney just in time for the DF run on Boxing Day.
