Should what and/or how a child thinks or behaves make any difference/condone how an adult behaves sexually towards them?

are they lying, and they don't have any kids?

Like you mailorder, I always have a laugh when parents of teenagers say "I have a close relationship with my teen and s/he tells me everything so I know my 18 yo hasn't had sex/taken drugs/done something stupid". Yeah right! :^O

Parents are clueless. Kids tell you only what they think will pacify you. No kid is going to admit to s#x or oral or whatever to their parents at 14, 15, 16. They will probably give you the  "Others do it but I don't" line or the best one "Gross - as if I would do that". Get real!

My parents had no clue what I did. My parents were strict Italian Catholics but boy, oh, boy, did I get up to mischief! Mum even thought I was a virgin before my wedding and tried to tell me about what was to come. And I still let her believe that I hadn't been doing the deed since I was 14 lol!

My 14yo son appears an angel. But I KNOW he is nothing but. I am pretty switched on but I know he knows more about drugs, s#x, than I can possibly imagine. Any smart kid these days will be the same.

Ok so our teens have sex any way so just let them have it with whoever because the law doesn't count.  While you are at it lets just let our teens drink, smoke dope and do what they like because they'll do it anyway.

That is such a poor argument I mean seriously, teens need boundaries and if they are involved with adults playing adult games we need to as parents step up to the mark and say its not ok.

I certainly do agree with you Iza.  It should make no difference how the child feels about it at the time.

I don't know ? I hadn't looked for that or noticed that.I suppose if I needed people to agree with me I might be looking for that ?

Joono, It doesn't make any difference and for adults to think it does kind of condones the action and thoughts of pedophiles...like, they made me do it, they wore this,they will or they did enjoy it ,they wanted it,It's excusing abuse.

Nobody's saying it's OK,  Bella, just that it's been known to happen.

Of course there have to be boundaries for young people, but they often see them as a challenge to be overcome.

If I posted the same statements continually throughout a thread, I would think they choose to scroll on by and ignore it. I wouldn't think it was because anyone agreed with those same statements.

I always think similar when a parent of an 8-10yo state that their child is a good child and they wont behave badly like examples posted here when they are teens..
