I rarely watch any (they are too long) but they don't bother me.
Speaking as a person NOT blessed with beauty pageant looks I think if they can win cash prizes and stuff and use these to pay for university studies or to embark on a career in modelling or the entertainment industry or whatever, why not?
They seem to be very PC these days. Wasn't the swimsuit section axed some years ago?
Something comes to mind about a Miss Australia contest I saw on TV years and years ago. When it came to asking 'the question', one contestant was asked something about if there was someone she admired or liked or whatever (I can't remember the precise details). Her answer was David Bowie, which drew gasps from the audience. Very controversial for the times ! LOL
These days when I see beauty pageants on TV my mind tends to drift to the movie Miss Congeniality. 😉

I don't mind them, but I think they've had their day.

I really don't think about Beauty Pageants much at all.
