I am someone who gains weight very easily - and I LOVE to cook and eat. I'm also not someone who enjoys exercise that much, but I force myself to do it, because, firstly, I don't want to be fat, and secondly I want to be healthy.
I go to the gym Monday Wednesday and Friday from 6.15 to 7.15am, before work. I think this is pretty good. I tend to slack off a bit in the holidays. I do a combination of cardio and weights training. I gain muscle easily, but struggle to loose kgs, so I have to be careful not to do to many weights and make sure I do enough cardio.
I am starting to do a pole dancing class on Monday's too. I figure that I should learn a few tricks, plus, physically, you need strength as well as fitness, so hopefully it will be a good workout.
What do you do?

I want to go to the gym but cant afford it.
In summer I play outdoor cricket in a womens league, (my father covers my registration fees as a birthday pressie and then I pay $5 a week to play) in winter I return to being a sloth.

I am limited with what I can do as a result of my back injury and the damage to my knees from the fire (lost alot of the connective tissue and the ligaments). Mostly I do a lots of walking, lots of gardening, and when it isn't too cold...swimming. I also keep busy with our volunteer work (although I have pulled back on that quite a bit so I can keep up with my study and caring duties).
I have lost a lot of weight but it is mostly because I live on ice, the frozen variety. If I feel like crunching on chips or whatever, ice takes away that need. I also have tonnes of fruit available all the time. I replaced everything in the house with low fat / sugar / salt varieties of all our staple items.

My gym is really cheap. $50 a month, 24/7, so you can go whenever you want. It's just machines and weights, no classes which is cheap but that suits me. Most gyms around here are more than double that!!!!

once I pay my bills, I have $150 a fortnight to feed, clothe and to pay for public transport for me and my boy to get to school/work and anything else that raises its ugly head.
so for now a gym is out.
if I could find a gym around here that offered classes at 12 or 2 during the day, I might feed my kids less a week and join one.
Ive pulled the deadly treadly out and Im now trying to find the motivation to ride to work

since Dec. I've been making sure I walk every day & I've lost a couple of kgs. (which I needed to do) so IMO walking does make a difference if you can fit it into your schedule as a routine. it doesn't cost anything either
Drinking water and watching what you eat a little at the same time all helps.
If I overeat on the weekends ( which I tend to do, going out for dinner etc) I will fast for one day, usually a Monday.
I also have a high resistance stepper at home, when I'm really good I do 2 lots of 100 steps per day to tone my muscles, but I've been a bit lazy with that lately ๐

Treadmill, combined with a healthy diet. I used to walk but arthritis in my feet, spine and hips has stopped me. I have been doing it for about a year now and I still hate it, tried doing it while watching tv but the tv bores me.

Walking is great too. If you work at a good pace, you go about 6kms in a hour. That's a pretty good walk. If you can do that 3 times a week, it will help your fitness for sure.
My girlfriend went from size 14 to a tidy size 10 in 6 months, simply from walking 40 minutes a day. She also tried to cut out excessive treats but did have some. She looks and feel great! She is a nurse at a large hospital and also started to stake the stairs instead of the elevator.

I go walking with hubby or my sister in law..........cant do anything else because of spinal issues.
Also, watch what I eat.

Back issues seem really common here ๐ so bad. My mum had a bad accident last year (fell backwards down the stairs whilst overseas, hospital, delayed return home, had to come back business class etc), and that was a year ago now, and she still has problems and probably always will. She has found pilates really helpful and yoga. Although she can't do in yoga what she used to be able to do.
Swimming is also really good. My problem with swimming is it's so expensive. It's $8 for a casual swim! That's $24 a week if I go 3 times. Nearly $200 a month. And a membership isn't much cheaper, nor is buying a book of tickets - 5% discount. And it's a wee bit cold to swim in the ocean this time of year!
