What do you say to a friend who is dying?

I have a friend who is in his last days or, at most, weeks. I don't know how to speak to him about what's important. We can have conversations about all the usual unimportant stuff, but how do I broach the subject that he is dying and I'm going to miss him?
He knows I care, but I feel we have more to say. Am I just being selfish in my need to talk about this?

Just be honest and tell him that you will miss him. If you can't say what you want, then perhaps you could write it down in a letter. Sometimes, just being there is enough but if you have something to say to him then don't leave it until it is too late. You don't want to have regrets about not telling him when you had th echance. Also, you won't be the first person to talk to him about their feelings so just do it. Sorry you are going through this.
