oh they cut out lots but here it is http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-04-10/playing-pass-the-parcel/4621780
Had a good chat about the NBN to the camera man, I am surprised journalists of all people aren't giving the LNP more of a hard time as they seem to understand it better than most.

Most people don't understand the differences. They use wireless and don't give a hoot about where, how or why until it doesn't work. Then their bit of sky falls in. In the house I shared with the young ones we argued about the phone connection. They would not believe it was voip over the fibre and insisted we had a copper phone line as well because it just works like the old fashioned phone.
It took a phone call to a network designer (male of course) before they understood that with FTTP there is no need for copper phone wires. There after they took my word.

Freaki I really hope that Labor do some good campaigning on this issue as it is vital for the future, the way I see it the LNP might be better off not spending a cent. Talk about wasting money.

i dont care who's is the better plan, i just want mine to work
Amy, the LNP plan relies on using the old copper to your house. The old copper that won't work when it rains. That is one of the differences.

Wireless is brilliant in areas without many people. It is when you get in a crowd that it starts to fail. When all the school kids get home the wireless comes to a grinding halt, as does ADSL to some extent and HFC. Telstra considered laying FTTN about 10 years ago and decided against it because by the time it was finished the tech would be out of date and the cost was just too high for something of temporary solution.
