I would have thought it was the reporting of up to date information of relevence to the general public.
I read two newspapers this morning - the Sydney Morning Herald and the Daily Telegraph.
The Sydney Morning Herald had fairly extensive news coverage of the what happened at Manus Island and some intelligent dialogue about what it means. Front page coverage as well as extensive coverage inside. They interviewed key witnesses, attempted to make contact with officials, have someone posted in PNG waiting for updates and have placed the incident into a national and global context.
The Telegraph had a small blurb (approximately 6 short single line paragraphs) at the bottom of page 4 with a small headline which basically said little more than the body of a man murdered on Manus Island is now back in Iran and that the "people of Manus Isalnd have expressed their sadness that the violent death has drawn attention to their peaceful home".
And people get upset if you dare suggest that the Murdoch news is the media of choice for the least intelligent Australians...

Well Joannie, nobody forces you to come here.

migrant advocate? Is that someone who migrated here and is now an advocate for something?

"Well Joannie, nobody forces you to come here."
How very very ouch FN, but surprisingly factual, for a change.

I am a migrant advocate.
I bought him over, sponsored him (and worked to support him) until he could work
I have the ring on my finger ...he worked/works hard for our family (for us and all of my Australian children ,3 of which weren't/aren't his)
he escaped bad weather and a bad economic environment (the UK) ..not war, persecution etc
I'd advocate for him and any other such newcomers any day regardless of where they come from

"the body of a man murdered" I would think that term (yours INAM) is more aptly replaced by "killed"
"the SMH have someone posted in PNG", actually the link above is from the Telegraph's PAUL TOOHEY on Manus Island.
Sadly INAM what you complain about is also apparent in the OP, and the subsequent comments from the pink myopics: personal/political bias, which is encapsulated by the term used to describe the unfortunate death .
SMH: "one person was killed, the man who died, A man has been killed. "
Telegraph: "the violent death, the riot that killed, left one Iranian asylum seeker dead "
INAM "the body of a man murdered"
At least Annie LL is open in her hostility (aim) to the media that she perceives as opposing her political outlook.
"I would rather wait for the results of the professional inquiry to be released rather than read the biased reporting of newspapers & the unsubstantiated verbal of vested interests."
Good/logical reaction WR, because the vested (political) interests herein mostly overide any desire for facts or research.
Business Spectator (who reads it?)
"Western Australia's election looks set to showcase a sorry wave of hyperbole from each side of politics - and ignore Australia's real standing and urgent needs. "
That sums up what is constant reality here.nɥºɾ
Monman - I am not sure what your point is but my OP was in reference to the NEWSPAPER I was reading this morning. The physical newspaper. You are reading an entirely different article online.
Paul Tooheys article that you are quoting was not in the morning edition of the Daily Telegraph. I am not even sure how you found that article in the online 'edition' of the Tellie - it doesn't it show up on the Telegraph home page. Nor does it show up in the breaking news category. Nor does it show up in the National News category. And seeing as they have removed the Politics category now that Abbott has been elected, there is no longer the ability to check the latest political news any more.

Was he an asylum seeker that arrived by boat and was placed in a detention centre and was part of a riot there?

Boris, I didn't mean that to sound abrupt. That happens sometimes when I have to rush.
I can't not be a migrant advocate especially after my personal experiences....there is no way that I could not advocate for people needing asylum (if that's where things were going with the post you replied to) ....when I personally and individually sponsored a migrant for Love

Martini did you buy it? You spent money on that "newspaper" or justified someone else spending money on it?
Yes Karen I bought it lol!
I always buy the Telegraph (and the SMH) on a Saturday and the Sunday Telegraph (and the Sun Herald) on a Sunday. Not because I think the telegraphs will give me anything newsworthy. But because I like to think I am well read and like to know EVERYTHING that is going on.
Mind you I keep the SMH for a week or so but todays Telegraph is already lining the bottom of the rabbits litter tray.
During the week I read both at my local Cafes.
