To be driving "a bit too quick" in a fuel tanker carrying 35000 litres of fuel.
Just saw a police officer say that preliminary investigation of the accident in Eastlakes where a fuel tanker has overturned the driver said he was going "a little bit quick"
I am sick to death of the way some truck drivers drive. I constantly experience tailgating by B double trucks between Hamilton and Coleraine. These peanuts don't seem to care that they will just drive over the top of a car. Easily killing the occupants while they will only be traumatised. What a crock. They would walk away while thinking that the car and occupants should have just driven faster.

like so many things, people dont think of 'what might happen' if i do this.

its only after it goes wrong they sit there crying if only i knew.

how often do i still see small children walking to the shop alone.

how often do i see people talking on their phones while driving.

how often do i see people speeding.

all too often

I'm presuming that many tankers use the route that this driver took.

Why is it that only that driver's truck overturned?  And not all others who take that course?

Maybe, because he was "going a little bit quicker" than other tanker drivers?

Also, isn't it the driver who is responsible for his vehicle and load?  Not the "whim" of  a forklift driver, who may or may not be correct in the loading procedure of hazardous materials.

Driving "a bit too quick" does not necessarily mean speeding.

If you know the area at all the roads are not condusive to big trucks...the corners are too sharp, especially for trucks carrying individual containers of liquids.   Take the corner a bit fast and the containers can move, causing the whole truck to tip over.

There have been complaints for years about the transporting of chemicals from Port Botany through the suburbs.

And the problems can be compounded if the truck has not been loaded properly....and that is often not the fault of the driver.  They just have to accept the fork lift operator assigned to them.  It is a different matter when the tankers are loaded with bulk liquids.

I held a HA licence for years before I gave it up voluntarily due to a heart condition and I never had an accident so obviously I know nothing about driving a truck.
