People post news clips as fact but others disagree depending on who owns the paper
People quote TV and the "facts" are argued because media is bias
People post you tube videos and people argue its not fact
So, what does make a fact, a fact? How does it go from an opinion to an absolute fact?

"Depending on what the issue is. If there are statistics available from a reliable source (e.g. no of people receiving unemployment benefit in the year 201-2014) then quoting those is in a statement is more factual than stating something like - all the xx group of people in area are dole bludgers (which is an opinion)."
I agree A3, so how would you view:
"P007: We have the worst unemployment in all of Asia and have overtaken the US."
Oh dear: Oct 2014 "Australia's unemployment rate set to be second worst in Asia-Pacific, says IMF"
A3: " He hasn't been in the area he was in the last couple of days for 10 years.. coincidence he has a bike race at same time?"
Fact: Aug. 20, 2013,
Mr Abbott pledged $25 million over five years during a visit to Anglesea, in the ultra-marginal Victorian seat of Corangamite, which Liberal candidate Sarah Henderson hopes to win.
""About 1 million temporary/457 visa/485s from countries that have ruined their own economies with a housing crash "
Oh dear : 457 Visa Grants May 2014 show that the total number of 457 visa holders is at an all time high of 111,780. Whilst 485 visa applications are in a sharp decline with a current total of less than 25,000"
I have spent a life of appreciating research/facts (sorry). Here there is very little desire to present facts (sorry) unless they support a personal (unresearched) VIEW..
Makes my life easier when those on the "other side" have no personal views other than those of others they just C&P.

I am sure the OP didn't mean for others to make 'personal' attacks on others (especially not by quoting from other old posts/threads) It was a general, genuine question - the title of this thread that is.
I don't know why this follows under my ID - I never posted that.

I agree.
I also agree with Chuk. Sometimes the more I research the less facts I seem to be able to find...
You seem sure of yourself Monman. Whats your stratedgy for finding the most factual information (on the topics you are interested in)

Keeping dossiers of others posts seems to be a feature.

It seems it only matters if you lean left.
