What makes a fact a fact?

People post news clips as fact but others disagree depending on who owns the paper

People quote TV and the "facts" are argued because media is bias

People post you tube videos and people argue its not fact

So, what does make a fact, a fact? How does it go from an opinion to an absolute fact?

I've tried before. Have you, maybe under another nic (I won't tell) Seriously, no one posting here seems to want to have a serious discussion about anything. If it's political, one or the other side shuts down the argument via reports. On any other subject in the news, shutdown by the "group" in charge to whatever way they lean on the subject, depending on their personal circumstances and how they think it effects them. Discussion? Are you for real?

No that's an opinion. The only indisputable fact is that people post in this forum.

No, it's fact. Unless you agree with the majority, shutdown. Regardless of facts or personal experience. Which is a lot more than is presented by those who chose to shutdown according to who posts. Those in the good books get to post all sorts of "facts" with no real basis in reality. Just   because they can.

Well I thought it was a conversation about fact as differentiated from opinion so that is what I am discussing.

I don't consider that to be agreeing or disagreeing with anyone about anything.

This whole discussion reminds me a bit of a joke:
