What're The Chances?

Last week I was very upset to dent and scratch the front panel of my car backing out of the driveway. $600 damage. Not happy 😠

Yesterday I went out to lunch with my sister. After lunch we pooled $20 each to play the poker and won 800 each. Panelbeater sorted. 🙂

A mate and I were clearing an old Aboriginal camp site up NT way that tends to get overgrown with bushes (but shouldn't)

so we spray them and clear them every so often. Cattle (Buffalo) also roam so tend to damage any artefacts

that have survived.

Anyway, a couple of years ago during one of these clearings, I noticed just poking out of the ground

a cream / whitish stone which I picked up.

It was a perfect grinding stone, unchipped, the hollow curve in the middle showed it had been well used.

My mate said it is rare to find undamaged ones.

It would have been very old as in this particular area, a very large number of Aborignies were wiped out

by small pox and other deseases they caught from the first whites who visited (Ludwig Leichhardt, 1845).

Anyway, I was wrapped to find it so to stop it getting damaged, we found a strong native bush that would survive

fire, floods and cattle and placed it at the base of it, slightly covered with dirt. I have since been back twice and

it is still there.

as some will know, I have been looking for an old car to do up - I had my heart set on an HR but seeing the prices they go for as rusted out wrecks, I changed my mind. I bought a Mazda Eunos - it was sold here as a Eunos but overseas as a Mazda 3xx.

Anyway, I rang a mate to drive me down to pick it up, but while I was waiting, I drove my Commodore down to the shops (4km) to get money out of the ATM. On the way back, the car overheated (see Mechanical problems thread) and I was lucky to make it to a mechanic shop.

Get the picture so far?

The mate meanwhile had gone to my place to pick me up. He is sitting outside in 36 heat. The mechanic shop took me home., and we went down to pick up the car. It's unregistered, had already got a permit to move it ($82) otherwise I may have cancelled buying it - anyway I drove it home.

The mechanic rings said we put a new water pump in and when we tested it the radiator blew - can't get one until Monday.

So now I have 2 cars whoopie! One stuck in the shop and one unregistered.

I left out the most important part - I DIDN'T WIN any money to pay for it all.

Hi Icy--this morning i went to a car part swap meet in Sale Vic.

Bloke i know had a stall--he had a near set of HQ Holden workshop manuals.

They are quit scarce--he had 1 2 3 and 5--a few minutes later i

found a single no 4 at another stall-purchased it for $10.00

and took it back to him--got $10.00 from him and he could

get a lot more now having the full set for sale........................................Richo.
