Congrats to Anne Hathaway for her win for Fantine in Les Miserables

One of the most moving pieces of acting I have ever witnessed......she was totally stripped bare and raw

Brava!

It was one of the most effectively filmed death scenes ever made, I think.

I cried buckets.

Yes me too, when Molly died.  Cried my eyes out.

Another piece of moving acting I remember was in

To Kill a Mockingbird with Gregory Peck,  I'm a bit vague about it but

I think it was his closing speech at the trial.

Crawford Productions  'The Sullivans''  in a later series when the police are looking for Terry Sullivan for black-market activities.terry has a lot of issues stemming from the war and Dave the father is incredibly straight -laced and law abiding, but he tells the police terry is not there.. they have a bit of a look around and no sign of terry.

after they leave dave goes outside and calls under the house ''are you there son'' and terry emerges saying 'im sorry dad'  dave knew he'd be there, because he always hid there as a boy when he was in strife.

When Molly died in Country Practice.

Oh yes, I cried bucketloads of tears when that episode aired.

I still remember Brendan's scream of anguish as he came running up to Molly as the screen went dark, screaming her name........

Go Towards the Light. A movie starring Linda Hamilton and the guy who played John Boy in the Waltons. [can't think of his  name offhand].

They have 3 sons, all who have haemophilia, and one develops AIDS as a result of HIV infected blood transfusion. [this is set back in the days before they screened blood].

The way the family gather together to make the most of the young boys last year on earth is very touching, as is the scene in which he dies.

I highly recommend this movie if you've not seen it.

The whole movie is available on YouTube:
