I am sitting here looking at my dog laying on her cushion where she spends most of her time now.
Honey is 16 going on 17 and has been with me since she was 6 weeks old.
On Tuesday I took her for her booster parvo and her regular eye check. The vet said that her eyesight is now gone. She may see bright light but that is all. She is almost deaf also. Her general health is that of a healthy 10 year old even her teeth.
She still takes herself out to the toilet, comes for a pat, wags her tail and seems to be happy.
Last night I was talking to my son on the phone and he said "Mum what are you doing she lives in a silent dark world".
So now I wonder what am I doing. Is it for her, or is it for me that I have not contemplated her last journey to the vet.
What would you do.

If she is a little bit stiff, something that really helped my dog later on in life was a powder from the vet called Sasha's blend. Ask you vet about it. I think you can also get it online at some pet stores a little cheaper.

don't feel she is living in a silent dark world.
She is living in a warm and loved world, and men often don't see that. my hubby wouldn't
my dog is about 13 and is having increasing health problems, hubby wants him put down, but no way.
my dog is otherwise happy and is sitting in the sun on the verandah (in his jumper and sitting on a rug) having a look at anyone going down the street and an occassional woof - his favourite pastime.
He is 2.8 kilos worth of love and cuddles and cost me nothing at a country pound, 10 years ago, before he was due to be euthanased

Is your little one a chihuahua? She would be so happy sitting in the sun and watching the
world go by.,

She knows how to find her bed, her food, and a place to potty, using her nose. Honey looks great. What more does Honey need, other than cuddles from you?
Helen Keller lived in a dark, silent world. She managed to lead a very productive life.
