The numbers and the graphs on how we are going and it seems to be on a downward trend for new cases so

hopefully we don't get to many new cases brought on by further idiocy and people that just wont listen.stubborn_smiley_by_mirz123-d4bt0te_zps12f1a5a3.gif

What a terrible decision to have to make. Who gets the ventilator and who doesn't. Many doctors will need counselling when this is over.

I believe it's the leaders call that doctors have to abide by

I can only imagine it's because most of the young are taxpayers

(The worlds gone completely mad)

Anyway, How can an individual prepare to combat for such a global event?

Personally, this will prompt me to quit smoking once and for all, and maybe seek out some vitamin supplements to build-up a strong immune system...apart from eating healthy.  ( i was in the process of getting healthy anyway)

Glad to hear Joz. And it will also help prevent other autoimmune diseases like Rheumatoid Arthritis, which can be particularly bad for smokers. Dunno about your personal life - tis your business, but don't forget about the booze. It too is bad for one's autoimmune system unless it's steady, steady, easy go. Personally, I started to get it together years ago and am so grateful I did.

I've been on this path for probably 30 years, the hardest I found to quit is tobacco, I assocoate it with a drink, so dang back on the ciggies again. My liver has probably already been compromised due to the abuse in my younger years, not smart to top it up no matter how moderate you go, i suppose, it might allow unwanted viruses to spread!

Having said that, I think this pandemic is a wake up call - get healthy

& vaccines, what's that about? the prize goes to the one who developes it first!

And is really for the weak?

I gave up smoking on the first day of the Sydney Olympics in 2000. I tried dozens of times before, but failed every time. I was convinced I was too weak to do it. Ironically, I did it because I was lazy. I ran out of smokes and rather than drive to a shop I opened a box of Nicorette Inhalators which I bought months before out of curiosity. They are what did it for me and to be honest it was quite easy. But I was the type of smoker who needed to do something with my hands/mouth and the Inhalators were perfect.

I reckon the new world will be riddled with healthier and wiser people. And the environment will be healthier too. The ISS is already reporting a reduction in pollution over many countries. Dunno about the vaccine being mainly for the weak. I think this bug or a mutated version has the potential to inherit the healthy, as well as the weak. If not this bug then another will come along. I fear they already exist in some evil countries and this is an excellent example of what they can do to economies in particular. Tis a lovely planet we live on, hey.

With all new healthy living and bug mitigation we might have a winter flu season with exceptionally low or no deaths from flu.

While the nursing homes and hospitals with elderly seem to be under control except in Tasmania , might be time to evaluate procedures with a strict audit ,  particularly testing of any with even remote contact ie kitchen staff , resupply people , gardeners etc for the actual virus SARS-Cov-2 so as to remove the asymptomatic

also attention to

Staff levels

Protective gear

Reporting

I know our situation is different but I think is prudent to take hints and extract lessons from overseas experiences ( Our handling of the ship Rudy Princess ( some might say "PS Little Wuhan")  comes to mind as a negative example )

The American experience as it is unfolding is ugly for the nursing home elderly with 450 deaths to 3,621 in only 10 days - with many suspected covid-19 related deaths as not included due to chronic untesting  etc
