Where did all the good cops go ?

Heres a clue- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LClXj3XGuRM . . . . . . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdgIxJNlG_Y

Tasca instinctively did what any legitimate peace officer should do: She intervened to protect the victim, pulling Rella off the helpless and battered young man. Tasca’s act was one of instinctive decency, genuine principle, and no small amount of courage. It was also the action dictated by her department’s use-of-force policy, the first page of which specifies that it is “the responsibility of law enforcement to take steps possible to prevent or stop the illegal or inappropriate use of force by other officers.”

In his report on the case, Judge Donohue acknowledged that Tasca acted in compliance with the use-of-force policy – but he dismissed that fact on the preposterous grounds that “no evidence was presented to establish that Officer Tasca even knew about the document.”

The judge dismissed the fact that Tasca acted according to the law because there was no proof that she knew the law? This judge is the so-called independent expert that the Bogota mayor and his cohorts hired. He’s now retired. I wonder when that happened. The New Jersey article provides this quote about the judge from the mayor:

“She had the hearing. He turned around and said she should be fired. We did the right thing by her I think. We did what we were supposed to do. It certainly wasn’t political.”

Earlier in the same month, Tasca had prompted criticism for failing to rush to the aid of her partner, Officer Jay Fowler, during a brief confrontation with a tiny, drunken woman at a hospital. The woman, who was not a criminal suspect, was taken to the hospital for medical attention. She decided to leave, and when Fowler – who had already surrendered custody to the hospital – tried to stop her, the young woman “flailed” her arms, inflicting a small scratch on one of Fowler’s hands that tore open an old scab.

As a result of this “altercation” with a woman whom he outweighed by about 100 pounds, Fowler spent a week on paid medical leave, according to Donohue’s report.

“Nobody had said anything to me about the earlier case until after the incident with the Ridgefield officers,” Tasca pointed out to me. Her refusal to gang-tackle a tiny, confused woman in a hospital, coupled with her active intervention to stop a criminal assault on an unarmed, mentally unbalanced man who was not a criminal suspect, supposedly established a “pattern” of behavior that made Tasca a danger to her fellow officers.

The “good old boy” cop suffers a scratch on his hand and gets a week off with pay, while Tasca gets fired and worse. This is what happens when good officers don’t go along:

I love that your doubts as to her honesty is a dilemma for you greencat. Shows how little stress id in your life. I bet you've never gone hungry. When I first lost my job I had to pay $280 a fortnight rent when the dole was $283 a fortnight and I had to live on $73 rent assistance and my change from rent. If I was lucky that bought food for ten days. Sometimes a meal was onions and gravy

Don't presume to know me - you have no idea of what has gone on in my life, and that is because I would not come to these boards to discuss it.

There are many help centres online for people to speak about problems, there are legal aid centres to assist if you need to get help and legal aid for those who feel they are being treated unfairly by whatever government entity they have the gripes with.

I am pretty sure the USA has all of these services, in fact I know they do, and I simply find joanies rantings a little one sided and biased.

If she really is in need of assistance, then she needs to take her concerns to someone who can hlelp, and IMO the Australian eBay chat forum is not the place to find the help she seems to so desperately need.

Re: Where did all the good cops go ?

Good Cops, Bad cops.

I have seen some terrible things done by the Gold Coast police on Video but have seen some good things as well.

The funniest thing I saw was a raid on a drug house/ brothel in Southport around the corner from where I worked.

A chubby cop tried to get through a hole in the fence and got stuck.

You could pick the under cover cops, they looked like skinny druggies.

Watched all this while I was having a ciggie in the car park, great entertainment.

Seeing the "toolies and schoolies" up there, I would call it justifcation !

The GC Cops have a good track record of shooting people at the moment.

Re: Where did all the good cops go ?

I posted this as an example of the trend of police these days, a trend I believe in not limited to the states. Saying my rantings are one sided and biased is presuming you know me. I'm only being honest when asked a question, and open. I didn't exect to be on trial here, I get enough of that already. If I'm so one sided, if i'm at fault for any of what i'm accused of, then why no convictions?, not a single one, why no jury trial? Could it be because the things I am accused of are so obsurd that they would be embarrased for a jury to hear it?

If you want to know why there can be no good cops, re read the op. It's all there. I didn't make up Kelly Thomas and John T Williams. Or the boy in Cleveland, or Regina Taska, I found it on the internet and there soo much more where that came from. You don't need me to bring it, go look, open your eyes and see all sides if you think it's so one sided.

I'm motivated because I've been on the recieving end of it for so long, maybe one has to be movated in the same way to bother to want to see it.

Re: Where did all the good cops go ?

Fair enough joanie,

But you live in the USA - you need to find help and support over there, arguing with me, or forcing your beliefs and judgement of police I have never met on me, telling me all police suck (when 2 of my kids are coppers) what do you expect me to think, and how should I react to your 'broad' description of the same people I have never had an issue with.

You have been badly treated (according to you) by the police in your town/state/country - I have not, so I can not continue a discussion that is going around in circles.

I wish you well, and hope you can sort things out as soon as possible to get your life back on track.

Re: Where did all the good cops go ?

Surely you could find a law firm that would be happy to take you on as a client, no win, no pay, with all those false arrests and no convictions?

It's not right.

Re: Where did all the good cops go ?

I am always amazed watching the police programs when drunk guys give lip and attack the cops, I think do they actually think they are going to win.

Shows how some cant handle drinking.

softail-joanie, I have only one question to you.

Are you a transexual or were you born female?

Just wondering.

It would explain a lot to me.

Maybe, but I've tried that a time or two and got no takers. I think they stretch it out in court so long so as to make the injustice old news by the time the case is dismissed and I could focus on that instead of worrying about defending myself in a jury trial. All I do is go to court for a pre trial, wait for hours only to have it continued the following month, or a couple months out. Although I sure could use the money, getting a payoff at the tax payer's expense wouldn't really fix the problem. Sheriffs, judges, courts, they all cover for eachother, back their own.

Maybe there is something i'm missing, but it's likely been too long to presue it. I try to think in terms of all i lost, i can't take with me when i die. it's only a house, and a lifetime of deals and items over the years. I don't have much of anything left for them to take. if they arrest me again i'll have a place to take a shower, if they kill me, i'll be free of them forever. If I could keep from re live ing it all in my sleep, or thinking about it when my mind wanders, I might even be ok. in this place I can manage most times to stay off their radar, but I have to be carefull because people these days will call the police over anything, maybe not even concerning me and i just happen to be in the area.

I'm not kidding, over anything. Riding a bicycle, buying lemonade in a grocery store, a smoker upset that I don't want to be around his smoke and step away from him in a parking lot. I might sneeze and offend someone, cough, blink, anything, and i don't know because rather than tell me to stop, they'll call the police. the way i carry my purse, not saying hello, or saying hello, I don't know what to do or not do anymore. I'm not kidding, i know it sounds like a joke.
