I actually met someone with a science degree today who doesn't believe in evolution and KNOWS that all humans came from Adam and Eve.:O
"Why are there still monkeys today if humans evolved from monkeys?" is a common belief amongst creationists. Who here doesn't know the answer to this?
Who here doesn't think that evolution is the best explanation for all the different living species on Earth today?

Evolution is an explanation of how different species came to be based on tonnes of evidence.
People can be religious and still believe in evolution. It shouldn't challenge their faith. However it does challenge the biblical explanation that each species were designed and created separately in 6 days.
One poster confused how living organism started(i.e abiogenesis) with evolution. Evolutions explains things after life has already started. The answer to abiognesis is we don't know.

Windrake, how would you describe and define your God to an atheist.

This is a discussion, nothing more nothing less. It is not rubbishing anybody.

I have yet to hear a definition of a God I can understand.

My definition of God!!
.....something to believe in when one's mortality is recognized!

That is a definition of faith, Vintage - not a definition of God.

the definition I've heard is God is timeless, uncaused, spaceless, non physical being. Whatever that means?

No she el, it's my definition of God, specifically!!...... Faith is subjective, God is something that believers look to when they wish to be "saved"....... After they are faced with their mortality!

We visited friends today and the question of Religion was raised...and not by me. The man (72) has no religion, is a live and let live guy, his daughter (42) does not believe in God, any God. Her partner is Catholic, was an altar boy etc.
The 72 yo's partner is Muslim.......
My OH is agnostic.......
It was a very interesting day! :^O and none of us argued or denigrated each others beliefs etc.
