I actually met someone with a science degree today who doesn't believe in evolution and KNOWS that all humans came from Adam and Eve.:O
"Why are there still monkeys today if humans evolved from monkeys?" is a common belief amongst creationists. Who here doesn't know the answer to this?
Who here doesn't think that evolution is the best explanation for all the different living species on Earth today?

"Does it matter? Why can't you just believe me on faith instead of asking for evidence? Why does it matter to you whether I have evidence or not?"
.... and this from our Bob, Mr 'show me the evidence'.

You are right rabbit... people really do always ask for proof, but it isn't always there and then one has to take things on faith...
Such is the way of the world ๐

I was being counterfactual or ironic however you want to take it.:)
What evidence could I possibly provide to someone who doesn't value evidence?

Its quite simple really. Just say where you get your facts from or stop stating something as facts.

Bob, I value evidence but not a theory stacked on assumption stacked on assumption stacked hypothesis.
Let's take the evolution of species based on the fossil record .... the theory is that because A existed in layer 1 and B existed in layer 2 (and A didn't) that B MUST have evolved from A???? MY belief is that the Bible states quite clearly that creation was a LONG process (ie each creative day = millions or even billions of years long) - so naturally a more complicated life-form exists in layer 2 than in layer 1. WHY? Because God created more and more complicated life forms as time went on. You SEE??? Nothing complicated or conflicting there??? By that logic, the life-forms found in layer 35 will be much more complicated ... and layer 63 much MORE complicated ... and eventually ... MAN / WOMAN.

so Rabbit, what about all those fossils that are found in earlier layers and not in later ones? did God change his mind about them, wipe them all out and create something more complicated to replace them?

they went the way of the dodo bird ... like the dinosaurs ,,, many creatures have gone extinct .... survival of the fittest and all that ... there is no doubt that some HAVE adapted, OK we'll call it evolved and even become new species ... I don't doubt that for one moment. What I DO doubt is the theory that all land life came from some ocean creature that thought it would find better pickings on dry ground, or that he would be safer from predators if he left the water only to find that the predators too grew legs and followed them ... I JUST CANNOT HANDLE THAT. If you read the story of creation, it says very clearly that God created the ocean animals first and then went on to create land animals.

I'm not surprised that you doubt that because it simply isn't true.
Land life didn't come from any one creature thinking it would do better on land. Land life began because over millions of years some sea creatures (note plural) developed characteristics which gave them the ability to venture further afield and since these characteristics proved to be beneficial, those creatures possessing them tended to be more efficient at surviving and passing those same traits on to their offspring. In every succeeding generation those individuals with a slightly enhanced development of those characteristics, gained a still better chance of surviving and passing them on That's how evolution works. It doesn't think or decide anything - it is simply the process by which those random mutations i.e. longer noses, taller trunks or stronger perfumes, which prove beneficial to those individuals possessing them tend to be passed down and enhanced from generation to generation, whilst those that are detrimental are not.

I'm going out on a limb here... now just humour me for a moment ... I want to explore the possible reasons why God may have created simple 1 cell and 2 cell animals first and then progressed to more and more complex life-forms. Bear in mind that this is over some millions or billions of years from the first simple life-form to the most complex. And also bear in mind that over those same millions or billions of years the environment would have changed dramatically too.

OMG:O Seriously?
At least you're not as bad as some creationist saying "I'll believe in evolution when I see a monkey giving birth to a human." or a "crocoduck" :^O
