Why do we have to vote for someone that we don't want to?

This concerns the preference voting system which to me is totally ludicrous.

If I have to vote I want to vote for one person, not 5 in order of preference.

When I asked a few people how they voted on the ticket they said they put a 1 next to their preference and

then numbered the boxes 2 to 5 in order of descending,(bypassing the box numbered 1).

So they didn't vote for their preferences,(they voted in order).

At least it makes you understand why some members are voted in via this system.

It seems to be that people that follow politics vote in the order of least disliked for the other preferences.

At least on the main ticket you have a choice,(vote above or below the line).

As only a small percentage seems to vote below the line and number each box it seems like a waste of paper

to have it on a ticket.

What's your preference?

I detest the shooters party, not only because of the shooting bit but in NSW they have backed the corrupt LNP all the way, though it was reported today that they will oppose bairds plan to sell off power assets but I'll believe that when/if it happens - probably just a ruse to get some more hunting rubbish through. It stinks when partys that get a tiny amount of votes end up with the balance of power.

Then they get the sitting party throwing millions of dollars at them to get their vote on policies,(money which is

always better spent elsewhere).

Australia and the states now get billions of dollars less each year as the assets have been sold off,(the way they

want to keep doing it there wont be any left in a few years which only leaves extra taxes to try and balance any

budgets),shok.gif
