Why is it most women change their last name after getting married?

Whether a woman changes her name to that of her husband, or keeps her "maiden" name, it belongs to some man.

That is unless she chooses another name altogether which is uniquely hers.

I have known of at least one marriage where the woman got married for the sole reason of having the name of her husband.

the husband is Baron Fredrik Von XXXXX M.D. Baron Freddy as we call him at one of our dinner parties Freddy was introduced to Susie an attractive blond hairdresser. Susie decided that she wanted to be a baroness by hook ir by crook and she used any hook that was available to her to snag Freddie, which she did. now she is insistent that all correspondence to he carries her full title " Baroness Susie Von XXXXXXX.
