Labor leader Bill Shorten slams Malcolm Turnbull, calling him “half **bleep**d” when it comes to equality
[...]
“You can’t be half **bleep**d when it comes to equality,” he said.
“The old Malcolm Turnbull would have marched in the parade but the new Malcolm Turnbull can’t march because he’s so in thrall to the right wing of his party.”
Mr Shorten said he had attended the event on many occasions, but was marching for the first time on Saturday night and had brought his family along.
He said Mardi Gras was still “incredibly important” for the message of equality it conveyed.
[...]
Is Mr Shorten slowly getting closer to the day he will 'out' himself? Baby steps at first admitting he was a regular attendee at the parade but now marching proudly with the gay community.

I think it's more important at the moment for Tone and Peta to admit their affair?
As for Bill it's important for him to support the Gay community

I feel that they both should have stayed away, trying to make cheap political points off a homosexual event?
I don't think homosexuals have anything to worry about these days, the plebicite is coming so all their aims are being met.

"Im not going to rake over old coals and I don't respond to scurrilous gossip" Mr. Abbott said. However there were some truth to the story of a "meltdown" in Indonesia that ended in a "group hung" for staff according to colleagues, who said the former PM was well-known for a fondness for "man hugs" after disputes.
Was Mr Abbott in the crowd with Malcolm to 'out' himself?

It has been tradition for many years for the local members to go to the Mardi Gras....both State and Federal.
Clover Moore started it years ago and it has just grown from then.

How pathetic; many straight people have been going for years to show support for their friends and family members, or just to enjoy the fun. Some of the more fit also participate, for it is not easy to dance the 5km route .

What are yo talking about? While marriage equality has been in forefront at this year Mardi Grass, it is not the reason for the it. The plebiscite the worst joke; everybody knows that something like 70% of population support marriage equality, so WHY on earth are we going to be spending the estimated $160 000 000? They can pass the legislation now, and then get on to trying to think about the important stuff. Waste of money, waste of time.

One reason, even if supported by the majority, is that it is still a contentious topic.
A formal vote by all, would mean that as a law, it would be seen as being acceptable to the majority and therefore more easily squash opposition after the fact.
Or, if you like, being seen as not just swept in without giving us all a say.

Do you genuinely believe that Mr Shorten may be homosexual or is this a rhetorical question asked out of spite and prejudice.
If it is a genuine belief, then I'm sure you have evidence to back it up other than the fact that he - along wit Malcolm Turnbull - supports marriage equality and attended the Mardi Gras.

How pathetic: many gay people have been going for years afraid of taking that final step and happy to retain the cloak of anonimity.
