Will Mr Shorten 'out' himself?

Labor leader Bill Shorten slams Malcolm Turnbull, calling him “half **bleep**d” when it comes to equality

[...]

“You can’t be half **bleep**d when it comes to equality,” he said.

“The old Malcolm Turnbull would have marched in the parade but the new Malcolm Turnbull can’t march because he’s so in thrall to the right wing of his party.”

Mr Shorten said he had attended the event on many occasions, but was marching for the first time on Saturday night and had brought his family along.

He said Mardi Gras was still “incredibly important” for the message of equality it conveyed.

Is Mr Shorten slowly getting closer to the day he will 'out' himself? Baby steps at first admitting he was a regular attendee at the parade but now marching proudly with the gay community.

Do you genuinely believe that Mr Shorten may be homosexual or is this a rhetorical question asked out of spite and prejudice.

If it is a genuine belief, then I'm sure you have evidence to back it up other than the fact that he - along wit Malcolm Turnbull -  supports marriage equality and  attended the Mardi Gras.

I could quote a couple of passages from the bible like someone we know did to underscore a point. I shall refrain from doing so.

Why?

I am curious - and I'm sure many others here are also - to know how a couple of passages from the bible could constitute everdence that Bill Shorten may be homosexual. I do hope you are going to enlighten us.

How pathetic; many straight people have been going for years to show support for their friends and family members, or just to enjoy the fun.  Some of the more fit also participate, for it is not easy to dance the 5km route .

How pathetic: many gay people have been going for years afraid of taking that final step and happy to retain the cloak of anonimity.

How on earth does anybody attending Mardi Grass retain anonymity?    Did he wear a cloak and fake mustache?  LOL  Are you suggesting that everybody should march instead of just come to watch?   In the start it was only LGBT people who participated, only later on parents and friends of LGBT people marched in support.  Considering the upcoming plebiscite it is good that politicians show exactly where they stand.

Nova, the presence ot politicians was not just a political statement.....it has been tradition for many years that the local member should attend...State and Federal.  Malcolm Turnbull was just doing his job.  The ring in was Bill Shorten.

Clover Moore was the one who started the tradition....she has always supported the Mardi Gras.  It caused a stir when she first attended, but now no-one turns a hair.

TGSE, I wondered why my new toaster came with several warnings; one of which was “do not immerse this product in water”. I thought that the product had to carry such a warning because of the nimrods in our society.

It’s the same ‘nimrod’ warning system at traffic lights that cater for pedestrians. I saw a small placard at one set of lights that explained how the system worked to guide pedestrians. The little green man meant that pedestrians could commence to cross. When the little green man turned red it meant pedestrians should not cross. All but nimrods understand the logic of such a system.

I once had to explain to you the services available to a person who enters a brothel. I have never been inside one but it ain’t hard to figure it out. Once again I was confronted by the ‘nimrod’ phase.

To top it all off someone added two quotes from the bible to underscore their ‘contribution’ to a topic. Only a nimrod would quote from a book that has as its idol a man of about average weight (let’s say 90kg) who could walk on water.

That was my point about tossing in quotes. When you toss in quotes from a dubious source you look like a nimrod.

I don't expect this reply to last very long.

Well, I'm not going to report you. In fact if I was a great HE elephant instead of a great SHE elephant, I would be rather flattered

Nimrod: late 16th century: from Hebrew Nimrōḏ, the name of the great-grandson of Noah, known for his skill as a hunter (see Gen. 10:8-9)

And you still haven't offered any evidence - biblical or otherwise - to back up your suggestion tht Bill Shorten may be homosexual.

My original question to you was whether you genuinely believed  Mr Shorten might be homosexual, and I asked if you could provide evidence to support this claim. You replied that you could use a couple of quotes from the bible and later  referred me to "someone" who had done the same thing somewhere else.

Are we to infer from that that this mysterious "someone" used quotes from the bible as evidence that some specific person was homosexual, or are we to assume that you are using a book which you  clearly believe to be fictional to prove prove that Bill Shorten might be homosexual?

Whichever it is, I still don't feel very enlightened.

I have to confess I don't recall that particular little lecture - though I'm sure you can supply a link to the thread - but I doubt that I would have found it very instructive because, unlike you, I actually have been inside a brothel.

http://www.drivewa.com/Display/poilink/id/397/title/langtrees-of-kalgoorlie

Now that really was instructive. When I did the tour it was still a working brothel, so we didn't get to see all the rooms as some were  .... ummm .... occupied; but we did see the Japanese room and one designed to look like a mine shaft (local colour, I guess) and the 'Roman Orgy' room (for group "hugs") and one called the sports room with a big square bed designed to look like a boxing ring. There was also a patio area with barbecues and a pool that could be hired for functions (read stag nights) and a smoking lounge called the Alan Bond cigar lounge, complete with brown leather armchais and sofas and  an original (and not very good) painting done by the man himself hanging on the wall.

On a more serious note our gude told us a bit about the history of prostitution on the Goldfields, what life was like for the working girls in the goldrush days when Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie were tent cities, and how soe of the girls were recruited from eplyment agmcies in France and Italy with stories they were going to be ladies maids or shop assistants - when they finally got to Kalgoorlie and learnt the truth it was too late - they were too far from civilisation to escape

We were told another interesting thing, too In WA it is (or was - this was some years ago so ithings may have changed)  illegal for a man to own or have any part in the running of a brothel.
