Hi tasfleur, I'm not up to speed with history between chameleon54 and another mentioned member. I can say having observed chameleon54 as I have since being here, I have never seen him carry on in any bad way. If there is anything that seems a bit "revved up" coming from him, I'm about 99.5% sure it's due to some below the belt go ojn him. I've seen a few ....  well ....  let's say goes at him on his occupation and also his selling, valuations on items and something else. He doesn't deserve personal attacks. So uncalled for!!!!

Some time back, I read his entry into a discussion and he was fine and then out of nowhere there seemed to be poking and prodding and silly comments to belittle him. Then it happened again on another thread. Look, I don't know the guy. I just know him from here. I will say though that he openly defended my right to have discussions on certain topics without the "usual carrying on" that ruins a good discussion. I appreciated that. But that's not why I'm discussing him now. I just see him as a representation of frustration felt by some of us here regarding what the discussion board has deteriorated to. Kudos for him on speaking out too.

I hope that he doesn't listen to you on this one tasfleur. As good intentioned as it may be, It will mean that the place will get gloomy without him. He is one of a few people here who like to discuss certain issues that are of interest to a certain section here. I'm sure mere mortal chameleon54 is accepting of a mere mortals like yourself as he is with me. (And I'm probably a tough order).  Nobody should accept some of the carry on that has been taking place for the last few years. I'd say that you're probably not aware of most of the stuff he is referring to. I have more than a good idea about what he is not happy with.

If there has been an expression of frustration from him, well I know there has. OK, I'll put it this way, if the expression of frustration from him seems to be a bit "warmed up ", well .. .. .. ..  it is for good reason! it's due to a small group of people who carry on in a certain negative fashion. They have been responsible for the absence of a few people just as the new layout may have been for some others. I personally can vouch for this!

Hi not_for_sale. Sorry, I have to disagree with you. He is not involved in any of the bullying. Yes, venting his frustration and I do understand. Not unlike myself, he only has an elevation to seem stern when he is the victim of unfairness. And I have seen a fair bit of nasty->> aimed at him. Quite unfair actually! I realize too that I have taken the bait in the past and I'll try to just not dive in.

Anyway, it's good to see that you have the same views as me, or similar on the suffering of African Americans etc.  Saw that on another thread somewhere.

Criticizing the standards of another poster and accusing that poster of personal attacks is bullying in any environment, be it CS, the workplace or one's home. Frustration and an elevation in mood is no excuse for such bullying or resorting to name calling by referring to other members of this community as muppets and morons. If you disagree then you can query the CS Standards with the Moderators or look at the most recent caution in this thread.

Yes, we do seem to have similar views about Native American actors, although I would rather praise their skills, rather than focus on their income.

The "muppets" mention was a statement about the state of the Community Spirit forum.  It wasn't directed at the community as such. I can understand where he's coming from. Look, try to have a discussion about the dangers of fluoride, or 5G and look out. There are other subjects too that attract attacks mocking and yes bullying. I've been victim to it so have others.

I don't think chameleon is selfish to expect subjects that stimulate his mind and that are of interest to him. He's not so much interested in what I am, but he has a wide-range of interests and has a good knowledge of things. Not too much to ask.  There are others who have expressed what he has in the past.

I've been quite frustrated in how things have turned out.

I have had my say about this subject, but as a final post about it ... this forum is an open one for all.  It is not for one poster above all to dictate what others can or cannot post, unless it is a moderator.

If a poster is unhappy, frustrated and/or generally annoyed with the forum as it stands within it's own evolution, then the opportunities to find other forums best suited to their needs and contributions do exist and are easily found.

Uncalled for accusations, name calling, abuse and autocratic behaviour here is not something commensurate with otherwise friendly dialogue, particularly when, in the universal scheme of things,  it does not affect your real life, unless you choose or want it to as a personal choice.

All the criticism, demonstrative anger and dislike you have for this forum should not be targeting posters, rather, try aiming it at official forum management who "reset the system".  Meanwhile, there are other forums that you could find very comfortable and enjoyable, rather than continuously venting rage at this one that really, never did, wouldn't, couldn't and doesn't harm you at all.

Chameleon, I hope you and your family have a lovely Easter;   I know you are a hard working and caring person who has done much for your community.

I believe that you're basing your addressing of what was said on what you see in front of you. No problem tasfleur. I can appreciate what you say. From what I've seen of you, you've always conducted yourself as a cheerful good natured participant. I have no reason to question my observations.  Sadly there's a whole lot more to this picture and chameleon54 may have, without realizing it, spoken for a few of us who are unhappy with what has been taking place for some time.

As I've said before, his statement was made out of frustration! Can I tell you this, one said  that he was not game to post here or on another board any more as he'd get attacked. His description was more graphic than that.

You address the problem very well, tas.

There are so many fora, and those who don't like the way this forum is, should rather find one that is more what they are looking for rather than feeling frustrated on one they feel is inadequate.

Personally, I think the Community Spirit is quite balanced. It has some fun (after all, it is part of the Fun and Social category), games (I love games, but don't always participate because they can be too addictive, haha), fun contests, various topics from recalls to current issues like war, COVID etc.  as well as a thread where people just chat (the Blokes thread).

Anyway, we should also not forget that sometimes fun can be a way to deal with life, like in some memes, for example about women getting older and fat, or problems with fake friends etc. If we just see all the sad or dark sides of life in a negative way, it becomes really frustrating, so seeing them in a more lighthearted way can actually be wise rather than silly.
