I was so glad that those wonderful fishermen were there djilukjilly as I'm convinced that insane man would have killed them both ultimately.

I referred to what reminded me of the appalling crimes of Milat.
No idea whether the Wolf Creek movie is related to the Belanglo forest murders or not, so no connection there.
the movie received a lot of
publicity. i thought it was
common knowledge what it
was about without having
to watch it.

I'm afraid "common knowledge" doesn't extend to publicity about horror movies to me personally, I have totally different interests thankfully, but each to their own ...

The title of this thread is Wolf Creek?
I have not watched the second movie, fast forwarded it all the way through!
Apparently it also was loosely based on the Falconio killing as well. Who knows what writers are thinking about to make these movies? Scarey if you lived with them

It appears from some quick research that Wolf Creek the movie and the Milat murders are really not related in any way other than in the mind of the movie producers and writers. The reality was quite different.
"Loosely related" leaves "loosely" as the non operative word.
Apart from that, while the thread is titled "Wolf Creek", the only similarity is that of "Salt Creek" and the topic is about the attacks that have occurred recently, so I'll stay with that and not the movie ... xx

"Apparently 2 German girls.
If they were to hang him, I wouldn't lose sleep"
Can't argue with that thought Kopes. There is a part of me that does not agree with capital punishment, but sometimes, the thought emerges that there is a case for it. It's a dilemma.

LOL of course!! the characters are
fictional. the location is fictional.
the movie is about backpacker murders.
the abduction, the killings. not that
far removed from what actually happened.
The character of Mick Taylor, and his dastardly deeds, are mostly based on serial killer Ivan Milat, whose string of sadistic crimes were collectively dubbed โThe Backpacker Murders.

I suffer from the same dilemma. Thinking it through i don't really believe in the death penalty but when i hear of some particularly heinous crime I sometimes think it would be appropriate.
Yes creative*crisis, it's really difficult isn't it? When I do think that way, I always end up wishing I had not. How hard it is when there are criminals of the most horrific nature (such as serial killers etc) who get to live even in jail when they have slaughtered others. It's really quite depressing.
