A woman has recorded the moment she was refused a pedicure from a US nail salon after staff told her she was too large to fit in the chair.
Rachel Bascue was denied treatment at Regal Nails Salon in Hot Springs, Arkansas just one day after her mother was also refused a pedicure at the salon for the same reason.
On her second attempt to have a pedicure Ms. Bascue secretly recorded her conversation with salon staff on her mobile phone.
In the footage a male employee can be heard telling Ms Bascue she is too fat and would break the chair.
"You cannot (fit) over 250 lbs (112kg). You don't fit.
"I've tried to tell you too many times. It's not fit for you. It's dangerous. It's for your own benefit," the employee continued.
Ms Bascue said despite the employees claims, she and her mother had both been treated at the salon in the past without any problems.
She conceded the public humiliated she suffered during the altercation with salon staff was the worst abuse she has experience.
"I have been talked about and made fun of, but this is the first time I was made to feel like a freak," Bascue told NBC.
"I shouldn't be discriminated (sic), nobody should be made to feel like that."
Umm I have opinions about this, but I won't say what they are yet, want to see what others think.

She's probably overweight due to a thyroid problem.

A friend brought a friend over one day to my house and as we all sat outside the very obese woman asked me first if my lovely cane chair could take her weight. Of course I wasn't going to say 'hell no!'. I cheerfully dismissed her concerns. She sat on it and promptly broke it. 😐
Lesson learned.

Good grief.
A store owner/manager has the right to refuse service to any prospective customer. No reason needs to be given.
In this case, the reason was the health and safety of the customer, the employees, the employer and the other customers.
With regards to her humiliation, why on earth go there twice after her mother was refused service?
15 minutes of "fame"?

Well happy I probably should not state mine either but I don't think I would like to play with her feet either and actually I think they were very nice to use the chair as an excuse not to treat her.
Lets face it I think it would be a damn long time since she was able to bed down and give her feet a good wash.
i don't know what her situation is but just because people are big doesn't mean that they have bad hygiene. i am a big girl but I am impeccably clean. there would be plenty of thin women who don't look after themselves. there are many reasons why people are overweight from medical problems, depression etc. no person deserves to be treated cruelly because of their physical appearance. every person has the same value in the world no matter how they look. i don't have a problem with people being refused service for safety reasons as she was but do object to the general nastiness towards people in general society (and on this forum) who are overweight. sexism, racism and homophobia are generally considered unacceptable now so the new hate is those who are overweight. i think it is a sad world where people are not judged on the type of person they are inside. i also feel for people who have to put others down just to make themselves feel special.

I must add I wasn't talking about any one person on here but just the general attitude.
