Came home this afternoon and my daughter told me what had happend near her university this morning and I'm appalled,.
I'm not sure of the exact location but it happend across the road from a uni, western suburbs of Sydney. Daughters friend was on her way to uni and was stopped in her car in traffic close to the entrance. There was a blind lady coming from the direction of the station and due to the footpath being dug up while cables, etc are being laid, a barricade has been put up. Along come this blind lady obviously familiar with this footpath and tapped in front of her and realised there was a barracade and walked around it. There is then a park that has chains across a section and the poor lady tapped and realised that she couldn't go any further and was getting disoriented and appeared to be getting upset. There was men on site and were standing around laughing at this blind lady and not bothering to help..
Daughters friend had to drive around the corner, park the car, crossed the road and assisedt the blind lady across the road. When the blind lady was safely on her way daughters friend apparently walked across the road and gave these workmen a piece of her mind. A teacher at uni has been informed of the incident and will take it furher. Disgusting...

im not convinced, i honestly believe the new system dulled the place even more then what it was, killed it somewhat.
any sign of a biff (fight) they'll step in and post a warning to lock the thread or quickly remove any offending posts
i prefer free speech & dont like censorship, well to a certain extent but i reckon lithium go over board

Not sure I believe its the mods that have killed it.
its the same old carry on thats driven many away, including using the mods as a weapon

mmmhhhh.....
i think the real problem is that the nasty ones have no conscience, morality or insight into what is right or wrong to do whatsoever.
they do not feel that it is wrong to report someone just for mere dislike or different opinion.
some would call them evil, i call them uneducated mean female dogs.
the good ones do not report, so what you get is that the good ones get reported while the mean ones stay cos the good ones have too much virtue to report even if it would make the board a better place.
it's a priciple.
Was du nicht willst was andere tun,
das fueg auch keinem anderen zu
kant put it into a more formal and universally applying sentence http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categorical_imperative, but it is too hard to understand for most so i just awkwardly translate the common peoples saying which intends the same as kant did, into:
do not do unto others what you don't want to be treated like.

I think we should get back on to the workers that made it really difficult for a blind lady and then stood around and laughed when she found herself disoriented.
Some men find it devastating when a woman blindsides them.

yep, and the same principle applies:
would these men like to be treated like that if/when they are old and blind?
certainly not, and that is the point when education (or a decent upbringing would do i gues) kicks in ...or not in this case.
neo told me that you don't have philosophy classes in australia? is that true?
