Hooligan sounds like a real character. I have a big soft spot for bed birds.

I knew a galah that would say "can I come too?" whenever he saw Mum or Dad putting on their shoes by the front door

Actually, the word "yank," as I remember it, comes from a corruption of the Dutch, who are often corruptable, what with their beautiful women, coffee, and money, and all.  But this was back in the colonial period, and I think the word "yankee" was a corruption of something like "John Cheese," or something, which doesn't make a lot of sense because that name sounds a lot like the guy who was part of Monty Python's Flying Circus, John Cleese, or something like that, and I have absolutely no idea why the Dutch would be talking about HIM since he wasn't even born yet, and those guys were funny, nothing cheesy about them.  But, anyway, please try to pay close attention as this is important cultural stuff here I'm laying on you....
