To theft, murder, violence, fraud, drug abuse, child pornography, dangerous driving, false character assassination, shoplifting, willful damage to property, sexual abuse, rape.... and the list goes on.
Would you rather not get involved and allow those things to happen?
Where would you draw the line?

Seriously Deb, it means that they are unwilling to take any stance, even in an online discussion, and by not getting involved here they would probably not get involved in real life which may have more serious implications

Martini, the question in the OP are serious.
I have no accusations to make or even imply.

How about if someone borrowed something from you and two years on they were still refusing to return it?

Deb, it is unfortunate that not all think like you do, "there is no line", it is obvious by the number of unreported crimes that are are allowed to flourish. Such as welfare fraud, rape, violence, child abuse and again the list is endless.

Personally it would depend on the monetary value, if it was my car and I had proof it was mine I would report it to the police. If it was an insignificant item which I couldn't produce the proof it belonged to me I would right it off, and be grateful I learnt a valuable lesson from lending.
