Perhaps, but I'd be interested to see the statistics relating to the number of people shot by outlaws compared to those shot by idiots.

it shouldn't need to be a law for people to know not to leave loaded guns laying around.

It shouldn't................. but some people just don't think.

I am old enough to remember the gun standing in the corner, loaded with a safety on.

and did you or anyone else shoot anyone with it?

There have been a lot of children killed with it, not Azure's family gun of course, but the one near the door.

A US gunman has opened fire at a house near Atlanta, Georgia, killing four people and wounding two children including relatives in a domestic dispute before turning the gun on himself.
A total of seven people were shot in the case in Douglasville, west of Atlanta, said Lieutenant Glenn Daniel of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
'It was a domestic situation,' Daniel said, adding that the shooter was a man, and that the two injured were children, who are now being treated in local hospitals.- See more at: http://www.skynews.com.au/news/top-stories/2015/02/08/us-shooting-leaves-five-dead.html?mob=bom_AGGS...

And the gun fondlers will point out that it was an abnormality, that guns actually save lives, and not owning one is "unAmerican"...........

Is that what I am, a gun fondler? It's cool, you might be right, I don't know. It would be one of the nicer things I've been called in the past couple days. I was thinking, you should do a segment on gun fondlers, it might make for some good comedy relief and I could use that right about now.

OK.......

A "gun fondler" is, in my opinion, an individual who puts his/her right to possess a firearm over all other constitutional rights.  He or she refuses any compromise on regulation or laws that impede, in his or her opinion, that right, and insists on "in your face" demonstrations, ie "open carry" at the local eatery, or movie theater.

On the other hand, a gun owner understands that there are situations that "going strapped" will only exacerbate adversarial positions.  If your neighbor is mowing his lawn at 6 AM on a Sunday, you don't throw a gun belt on before going over to complain.  A gun owner respects the rights of others, takes care of his/her weapons, and wouldn't consider leaving one where children or dumb relatives can get to it.

I'm glad you explained that, we may be more in agreement on this this than I thought, although not fully in agreement.

First, I do not place the 2ed, (2A) at the top, being the most important right that needs protecting. The 4th would far exceed the 2ed in being more vital a right to have and a far more violated right. I believe that business should be respected in this reguard. If a owner, or managment, one in charge, don't want guns on their property, then we should respect that and have the clear choice not to go there, or go there unarmed. However we may differ on open carry, I believe in public, and places that do allow it, or follow state laws that do allow it, those who wish should be able without harrassment, and without critisizm to openly carry, and as stated, shall not be infringed. People should realize Australia people in paticular that just because one OCs or conceals, don't mean their up to no good. If one open carrys a gun, they aren't always looking to kill someone, maybe they want to be prepaired, maybe they t want to exersize a right. big woop,it's a gun, get used to it.

I agree with you fully on the responsability factor, we should all consider the damage that can be done, the things that can happen if the wron person gets ahold of our gun, this applies not only to children. but, also to home and car break ins where a criminal may get our firearm and people might get killed.

It's a serious thing owning a gun, it should be done with a fair amount of common sense and better judgement. I would like to think that as humans we have not sunk so low that we aren't up to that kind of comon sense and better judgment. I may be wrong after some of the human behaivior I see ongoing at this shelter. Maybe I have been wrong in this.
