I had to laugh when thousands of people joined some group to get a better deal on their electricity bills.
I wasn't laughing at the notion of it but rather the result.
A 30% discount if paid on time.
If their current contract had expired all these people had to do was ring up their current supplier
and mention that they had been offered a 30% discount by another supplier.
This discount would be matched. Pure and simple.

OK. But what various charges can there be?
There's no charges anymore for the meter reader since the smart meters got installed.
Mine only says 'supply and usage charges' on the back of the account.
No other charges.

Stawks, the usage fee is for the amount of electricity you use and the supply fee is the fixed amount that you pay every day to have the service connected. Even if you do not use any electricity in a quarter you still pay that amount to keep the service connected.

Lyndal, they are not separate charges on my bill.
All under the one heading.
My discount is for the whole shebang anyway.

Weird they lump em all in together ... The company I am with doesnt ...... I prefer to have them listed separately ..... No winter concession 'cause we dont have natural gas
on โ01-08-2017 04:42 PM
But don't you get Winter Energy Concession on your electricity?
That's 17ยฝ%

Nup ...

But, but, but why not? You're a Pensioner and you're entitled to the discount.

Who said I was a pensioner? Not everyone who is retired is on a pension

Fair enough.

I am in NSW Stawks....most of the companies have different discounts for different states.
My discount is 22% overall but only on the usage charges, not on the supply charge.
I wish we had discounts over summer....my airconditioner chews up electricity like mad and I cannot live without it. It costs roughly $150 a quarter more than my usual bill.
I don't use electricity for heating in the winter so the only extra usage is for the stove for soups and stews....the slow cooker gets a good workout too.
